8 Reasons Why You Should Never Visit Mexico!
Time and time again Mexico shows up in the headlines for cartel murders, border fights, and tainted alcohol. All over social media people swear they will never step foot in Mexico. The US Department of State has travel warnings saying not to go to certain cities in Mexico. After spending the a few months In Mexico back in 2017 and then moving to Mexico January 2019 (big mistake by the way), I am here to tell you 8 reasons why you should NEVER visit Mexico.
1.The Dreaded Weight Gain
Mexico is a culinary orgasm. The food here is simply divine and there is no way you will be able to resist. Please stay away because you will become so addicted that no food outside of Mexico will ever taste the same therefore ruining food for you. You will dream of it in your sleep and your days will pass with thoughts of tacos, chilaquiles, tostadas, and ice cream galore.

2. Dangerous Locals
You truly don’t want to come to Mexico because you will be forced to interact with the dangerous locals and that is NOT something you want to do. You see. The danger with these people is that they are so unbelievably nice that you will feel welcomed and loved even though they are complete strangers. It is such an odd feeling to be welcomed and loved by strangers when you are so used to people back home not interacting with you. That changes in Mexico where neighbors are like family and everyone keeps an eye out for each other. Stay away!
3. The Damn Music
Trust me. You are not ready for all the great music on every corner. You’re just not. They play everything out here with the most popular being Mariachi. You will try and sit still and enjoy your dinner but your hips will begin to move uncontrollably and you will be up out of your seat in no time. Upon returning back to your homeland, the music will follow you deep into your soul and take you away to magical places in your dreams. Don’t come to Mexico.
4. It’s Old
Seriously, the place is too damn old. Who in their right mind wants to visit a place with so much history and culture? Not when we have places like Vegas, right? Mexico is rich with history from the hills in Guanajuato City, Mexico to the Mayan Ruins in the Yucatan Peninsula. Careful, you might come here and learn some historical shit. Don’t take the risk!
5. The Crazy Prices
Do you know that you can get a taco in Mexico for less than a dollar? What kind of craziness is this? I am used to my $4 or $5 tacos in Austin, TX that are each accompanied by fancy names like Democrat, Republican, or Tipsy Chick. Seriously, these are actual names of tacos at Torchys in Austin, TX. They are absolutely delicious so I am not hating but still…
You can come to Mexico and have a no name taco for less than a dollar! That is just batshit crazy. Don’t chance it.
6. The Water!
Are you ready for numero 6? Even if you have never heard of the previous 5 reasons not to go to Mexico, surely you have heard about the water. Everyone knows how dangerous the water in Mexico is. I am here to tell you everything you have heard is absolutely and undeniably true.
The water surrounding Islands like Isla Mujeres and Cozumel is absolutely stunning! I couldn’t believe how clear the water was. Why in the world should Mexico get all this beautiful warm water? It will entice you and make you never want to swim in any other water again.
That-is-not-fair! We should stop visiting Mexico immediately because this is totally unacceptable.
7. Money Problems
Y’all! You are not going to believe this. Actually, just stop reading now because you are about to be pissed. Listen up. You can not pay with the U.S. dollar here in Mexico in many places. Can you believe they actually make you pay in pesos?
Why in the world would I not be able to pay with the good ol’ U.S. dollar in another country? It makes absolutely no sense.
Actually, this guy I met in Guanajuato City, Mexico would totally agree with me on how ridiculous this is.
I’ll tell you a quick funny story about him.
I was standing next to a vender who was selling fruit. He was a young boy. Probably only about 14-years-old.
Anyways, I see this guy try and hand him a dollar in exchange for some fresh cut watermelon.
The boy shakes his head and basically says in the limited Spanish I can understand that he can’t take U.S. money.
The customer gets absolutely furious at this. He starts yelling at the boy who realizes the guy is upset but doesn’t speak English so he doesn’t understand what he is saying.
I step in and tell the guy that they can’t accept U.S. dollar because in Mexico you pay with pesos. I mean. Did he think he was at an all inclusive resort in Cancun or something? Probably!
The guys calls the young boy an asshole.
I simply explain that the guy is actually the asshole here, and then I direct him to the nearest ATM where he can retrieve pesos so he can buy his damn watermelon.
Okay. It is time to back to my point.
It is absolutely insane that Mexico wants you to actually use their currency. Ridiculous! This just adds another reason why you should NOT visit Mexico.
8. What Did You Say?
This is probably the number 1 reason you should under NO circumstances visit Mexico. Are you listening?
In Mexico they do not speak English. Don’t get me wrong. You will find some people who may speak English but they primarily speak Spanish and that is absurd.
Certainly, everyone should have to speak English in this world. That should be a requirement. We should boycott visiting Mexico until their official language is English. Until then, sayonara!
